Base Salary
$179k - $225k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead a portfolio of technology projects and a team of developers building distributed microservices and full-stack systems.
- Develop robust cloud-based solutions in collaboration with digital product managers.
- Provide technical leadership across Agile teams and establish standards for design, development, and operational excellence.
- Partner with architects to define service boundaries, integration patterns, and reusable frameworks.
- Identify improvement opportunities, refactor systems, reduce technical debt, and optimize performance.
- Influence long-term technology strategy by evaluating emerging tools and practices.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to internal and external technology communities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field.
- At least 4 years of software engineering experience; internship experience does not apply.
- At least 2 years of experience with public cloud platforms, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.
- Preferred experience includes 7+ years coding in more than two listed programming languages, 3+ years with databases, and 3+ years with cloud technologies.
- Preferred qualifications include experience with frontend frameworks, synchronous and asynchronous APIs, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, automated testing, Git-based version control, and cloud troubleshooting.
- Preferred qualifications include experience with open source frameworks, observability, AI-based coding tools, interactive AI tooling, mentoring, cross-functional engineering leadership, and enforcing coding standards and design patterns.

- Annual full-time base salary varies by location: $179,400-$204,700 in Richmond, VA and $197,300-$225,100 in McLean, VA.
