Responsibilities
- Design and implement embedded software and system components for Optical Line System development using MATLAB, C, and C++.
- Develop and maintain device abstraction and hardware abstraction layers for I2C, SPI, MDIO, EEPROMs, sensors, optical pluggables, and other optical components.
- Lead control-system software for EDFA and Raman amplifiers, including gain control, APC, AGC, power balancing, alarm monitoring, safety shutdowns, and protection switching.
- Support ROADM and line-system functionality involving spectrum allocation, path computation, flexgrid provisioning, and real-time network reconfiguration.
- Develop optical pluggable software for CMIS/SFF support, DDM/DOM monitoring, module state management, firmware upgrades, and power-class regulation.
- Contribute to optical topology modeling, impairment-aware routing, and optical power management.
- Apply coherent optical modulation, signal-quality, spectral-efficiency, BER, and FEC knowledge to design and testing.
- Validate optical subsystem performance using optical and electronic laboratory instrumentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, Photonics, Optics, Applied Physics, or a closely related technical field.
- 8–10 years of relevant industry experience in embedded software development, telecom software solutions, network element software, firmware, and Linux driver development.
- Hands-on expertise in at least two core domains including programming/system software, Linux device interfacing, hardware-interface protocols, optical line systems, or optical pluggable software.
- Credential in at least one dedicated optical area, either Optical Line Systems or Optical Pluggables.
- Expertise in Telecom Packet Optical Network Element Layer 1 software development.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
