Base Salary
$210k - $260k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and ship full-stack features across the React web portal and Spring backend services.
- Develop and maintain versioned APIs for sensor data, vessel telemetry, and AI detection outputs.
- Architect and evolve AWS-based services for reliability, scalability, and low latency under high-throughput conditions.
- Optimize PostGIS queries and data-access patterns for artifact retrieval, map rendering, and time-series analysis.
- Build internal administration and fleet-management tools for configuring, monitoring, and supporting SmartMast units.
- Implement precise UI components for data-dense map views and sensor visualizations in collaboration with the design team.
- Participate in on-call rotations and own service reliability and incident response.
- Review code, mentor engineers, and raise the team’s technical bar.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional full-stack software engineering experience.
- Strong experience with React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript for complex web applications.
- Backend experience with Spring Boot and designing REST APIs at scale.
- Hands-on experience with PostGIS, document databases, schema design, and performant queries.
- Working knowledge of AWS services including S3, Lambda, ECS/EKS, IoT Core, and CloudWatch.
- Experience with microservices architecture, Kubernetes containerization, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Ability to reason about real-time streams, large media assets, and geospatial coordinates.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Preferred experience with geospatial data, Mapbox, Leaflet, Deck.gl, or AIS/vessel tracking systems.
- Preferred familiarity with WebSockets or SSE for real-time UI updates.
- Preferred background in defense, maritime, or government software and data security requirements.
- Preferred experience integrating ML model outputs into user-facing product features.
