Responsibilities
- Develop and own backend features using Python and Django.
- Create new backend services and design, build, or troubleshoot integrations with third-party vendors.
- Understand customer needs and define solutions with cross-functional teammates.
- Balance short-term development speed with long-term technical quality.
- Guide technical decisions and improve engineering practices involving testing, code reviews, monitoring, and scalability.
- Troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, mitigate problems, and establish safeguards against recurrence.
- Support small JavaScript and TypeScript tasks when needed.
- Participate in squad on-call coverage for one week every five weeks.
- Use agentic AI as a thought partner and help establish quality gates, safety nets, and AI-native engineering workflows.
Requirements
- Senior-level backend engineering experience with exposure to architecture for large-scale web applications.
- Experience with well-designed APIs, high-volume data pipelines, or efficient algorithms.
- Hands-on experience using agentic AI tools and influencing engineering practices beyond code generation.
- Willingness to learn and use Python for product development; prior Python experience is not mandatory.
- Familiarity with or willingness to support JavaScript and TypeScript tasks.
- Strong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, mitigation, and prevention skills.
- High self-organization, ownership, and responsibility.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Minimum B2 English proficiency.
- Willingness to participate in the squad on-call rotation.
