Base Salary

$198k - $277k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, develop, and integrate core flight software for the TeraWave satellite platform.
  • Define reusable, scalable, and platform-independent flight software frameworks, services, and design patterns.
  • Develop flight software components for core services, command and data handling, telemetry, health monitoring, and fault management.
  • Establish software architecture standards, coding guidelines, review practices, and maintainability and reliability standards.
  • Partner with systems, avionics, GNC, communications, power, propulsion, thermal, payload, and autonomy teams to implement subsystem requirements.
  • Conduct design reviews, code reviews, and technical trade studies involving performance, fault tolerance, redundancy, scalability, and portability.
  • Support software integration, verification, and validation in software-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop, and mission-representative test environments.
  • Improve build systems, CI/CD pipelines, automated test frameworks, and debugging and diagnostic tools.
  • Create software architecture descriptions, interface control documents, verification plans, and test procedures.
  • Design secure OTA software update capabilities with validation, authenticated delivery, rollback, version control, and safe deployment.
  • Apply secure communications, access control, interface hardening, and resilient software design principles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of experience developing embedded software for spacecraft or other mission-critical real-time systems.
  • Strong proficiency in C/C++ and Python.
  • Experience developing RTOS-based embedded software with Embedded Linux, VxWorks, or QNX.
  • Experience architecting and implementing complex flight software or mission-critical embedded software systems.
  • Demonstrated technical depth across software design, implementation, and cross-functional integration.
  • Experience with software lifecycle, configuration management, CI/CD, and verification and validation practices for mission-critical systems.
  • Familiarity with TCP/IP, UDP, CAN, I2C, SPI, and RS-422/485 communication protocols.
  • Experience applying secure software development and cybersecurity practices in embedded or mission-critical systems.
  • Experience with embedded software testing methodologies.
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.
  • Experience with cFS, F Prime, or similar flight software frameworks is preferred.
  • Experience with satellite constellations, distributed space systems, networked embedded platforms, satellite communications, spacecraft networking, or high-throughput data handling is preferred.
  • Experience with SIL, HIL, integrated spacecraft test environments, fault-tolerant computing, redundancy management, radiation-hardened computing, optical inter-satellite links, secure OTA updates, software build systems, static analysis, code quality tooling, or automated verification frameworks is preferred.
