Responsibilities
- Design, implement, test, review, and release firmware and embedded software for medical devices.
- Develop software for microcontroller, DSP, and ARM-based systems to implement algorithms and applications.
- Define firmware requirements and contribute to project activities throughout the medical-device development process.
- Create software and firmware test plans, protocols, and reports.
- Collaborate with QA, regulatory affairs, test, hardware, and mechanical engineers on safety, reliability, and serviceability.
- Make and justify technical product-design decisions based on investigation and testing.
- Document and transfer solutions to manufacturing and provide launch-phase technical and sustaining support.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Familiarity with firmware principles, embedded-system hardware, and development environments.
- Preferred knowledge of firmware or embedded software development and strong C/C++ coding skills on embedded systems.
- Preferred experience with embedded-system design, testing, debugging, emulators, and JTAG debugging.
- Preferred familiarity with Python for integration-test script development.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, software and test development life cycles, code review, static analysis, and dynamic analysis is preferred.
- Ability to use debuggers, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, and related analytical tools.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, technical-writing, and project-coordination skills.

- Mostly remote role based in the Bay Area, California, with an office location in Pleasanton.
- Spring/Summer 2026 start with a two- to three-semester rotation; semesters may be consecutive or non-consecutive.
