Responsibilities

  • Build new functionality for Twilio’s Conversation Memory product.
  • Design and execute rigorous experiments from ambiguous ideas within short research cycles.
  • Research LLM orchestration, retrieval strategies, and data-driven personalization.
  • Build production-grade ML systems and cloud-based services operating at Twilio scale.
  • Work with high-volume data and streaming or real-time inference paths.
  • Integrate current AI development stacks to focus engineering effort on core product differentiation.
  • Raise the team’s technical standards through mentorship, design reviews, and engineering standards without formal management authority.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of applied ML/AI experience with end-to-end ownership of technically ambitious systems.
  • Proficiency in Python.
  • Experience building cloud-based services using AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Experience with high-volume data, streaming or real-time inference paths, and a range of data stores.
  • Strong fundamentals in statistical machine learning algorithms, transformer models, and LLMs.
  • Ability to work in ambiguous 0-to-1 environments with a strong bias for action.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Preferred experience building autonomous agents for multi-turn conversations and long-term context consistency.
  • Preferred experience with predictive modeling of user behavior, experiment design, and causal or counterfactual methods.
  • Preferred experience working on globally distributed teams.
