Responsibilities
- Design and implement Ubuntu integrations for current and next-generation IoT and server hardware platforms and software stacks.
- Work with partners to deliver optimized Ubuntu experiences on their platforms.
- Provide technical input on platform plans, testing strategies, and quality metrics.
- Serve as technical lead on complex customer engagements involving architectures from cloud to edge.
- Help customers integrate applications and SDKs, build device OS images, and optimize applications with Ubuntu Core, Desktop, and Server.
- Collaborate with specialist engineers from silicon companies to integrate new hardware features and performance enhancements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar field.
- Experience with Linux packaging, including Debian, RPM, and Yocto.
- Experience working with open source communities and licenses.
- Experience with C and C++.
- Ability to work effectively in a globally distributed team through self-discipline and self-motivation.
- Experience with graphics stacks is a plus.
- Understanding of networking, including TCP/IP, DHCP, and HTTP/REST, is a plus.
- Basic understanding of security best practices in IoT or server environments is a plus.
- IoT or embedded experience across boards, SoCs, BMCs, bootloaders, firmware, operating systems, applications, and services is a plus.
- Experience with Docker, OCI containers, or Kubernetes is a plus.
- Good communication skills and public speaking experience are desirable.
