Responsibilities
- Analyze user requirements and derive software design, performance, and component requirements.
- Design, code, modify, debug, test, document, and maintain complex software systems.
- Develop and optimize Java backend services and APIs and maintain web applications using JavaScript frameworks.
- Develop algorithms, database queries, data repository interfaces, and software solutions based on system performance and functional requirements.
- Integrate software into new or modified systems and operating environments and support software system installation.
- Resolve software problem reports, correct defects, and improve software performance.
- Provide input on system design, hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, and COTS/GOTS use.
- Develop and execute software component test procedures and perform quality control on team products.
- Recommend improvements to documentation and software development process standards.
- Coordinate with users, system engineers, and hardware engineers to derive requirements and address project limitations and interfaces.
- Serve as a team lead or oversee software development teams when appropriate to the development process.
Requirements
- TS/SCI security clearance with an agency-appropriate polygraph is required.
- Fourteen years of software engineering experience on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required, or four additional years of comparable software engineering experience may substitute.
- Experience with Java applications, REST, Atlassian tools, Git, IntelliJ IDEA or Eclipse IDE, Kubernetes, and JMX messaging systems such as ActiveMQ or RabbitMQ.
- Ability to multitask and pivot quickly between tasks.
- U.S. citizenship and a position-appropriate security clearance are required due to federal contract requirements.
- Preferred experience includes Kotlin, MongoDB, Spring or Spring Boot, Python, and Apache NiFi.
