Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain HIL test rigs for BMS and CMS using battery emulators, programmable power sources and loads, I/O and fault-injection hardware, and CAN interfaces.
- Develop plant models simulating cell voltages, temperatures, currents, vehicle behavior, and charger behavior.
- Create and maintain automated firmware test frameworks, preferably in Python, and integrate HIL rigs with CI pipelines.
- Derive and automate functional, boundary, negative, fault-injection, timing, and regression test cases from software requirements.
- Test BMS functions including SoC/SoH estimation, cell balancing, protections, contactor control, insulation monitoring, fault handling, sleep/wake, and CAN communication.
- Test CMS functions including charging state machines, BMS–charger handshakes, current and voltage control, derating, fault handling, emergency stops, and IS 17017/IEC 61851 communication behavior.
- Run release regressions, track requirements coverage, publish test reports, and log reproducible defects.
- Support bootloader, OTA update, and UDS diagnostic testing while working with firmware developers to verify fixes.
Requirements
- B.E./B.Tech in Electronics, EEE, Instrumentation, or Computer Science.
- 2–5 years of embedded firmware testing or validation experience, preferably in EV, automotive, or power electronics.
- Hands-on experience building or using HIL test benches.
- Strong Python scripting for test automation, with pytest or a similar framework.
- Understanding of CAN/CAN-FD, DBC files, CANoe/CANalyzer, PCAN, and BusMaster.
- Understanding of embedded C firmware, microcontrollers, and electrical schematics.
- Knowledge of equivalence partitioning, boundary-value analysis, state-transition testing, and fault-injection testing.
