Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with scientists to understand experimental requirements.
  • Interface with orchestration, non-real-time control, compiler, FPGA, and electronics teams to integrate the broader software architecture.
  • Implement drivers for real-time devices.
  • Develop abstractions over real-time control hardware and the execution environment for user programs.
  • Create tooling that enables rapid and reliable iteration by internal users.
  • Evaluate and improve APIs for internal users.
  • Contribute to the core execution model and scalable, reproducible control of quantum systems.

Requirements

  • Strong programming skills in one or more mainstream programming languages.
  • Experience with systems programming.
  • Experience with real-time Linux, embedded systems, or another low-latency computing environment.
  • Interest in or experience with Rust.
  • Experience with software system design and producing high-quality code appropriate for real-time environments.
  • Strong communication skills across software and other disciplines.
  • Comfort working with rapidly evolving requirements.
  • Experience maintaining high-quality code reviews and appropriate testing.
  • Willingness to learn, develop skills, and work through rapid iteration cycles.
