Senior Engineer I, Embedded Software Design

- Design, develop, and maintain embedded Linux software and firmware.
- Build and customize Linux BSPs using the Yocto Project.
- Develop, port, and customize U-Boot, Linux Kernel components, and device drivers.
- Perform board bring-up and low-level debugging on new hardware platforms.
- Analyze and resolve system-level issues involving boot, kernels, drivers, and middleware.
- Collaborate with hardware, validation, and application teams on system integration.
- Optimize system performance, boot time, and memory usage.
- Follow coding standards, quality processes, and documentation requirements.
- Participate in code reviews, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement activities.
Requirements
- 5–8 years of embedded Linux development experience.
- Hands-on experience with the Yocto Project, BitBake, recipes, layers, and BSP customization.
- Experience customizing U-Boot and understanding boot flows.
- Experience configuring, porting, and debugging the Linux Kernel.
- Experience with OCI containerized application development.
- Proficiency in C and C++ programming for embedded systems.
- Strong debugging skills using GDB, JTAG, Lauterbach, or equivalent tools.
- Experience with Texas Instruments and NXP processors or SoCs.
- Understanding of Device Tree, build systems, cross-compilation, memory management, process scheduling, and CPU load analysis.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git.
- Preferred experience includes I2C, SPI, UART, GPIO, USB, Ethernet, root file systems, systemd, init scripts, middleware, secure boot, OTA updates, performance optimization, and embedded industrial, automotive, or consumer products.
- Additional preferred technologies include FreeRTOS, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and CMake.
