Responsibilities
- Configure and manage AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery and related disaster recovery services and patterns.
- Create and maintain disaster recovery cutover runbooks covering dependencies, communications, validations, and rollback.
- Plan and execute disaster recovery tests, failovers, and failbacks; document results and drive remediation.
- Build and maintain Terraform infrastructure-as-code modules and standards.
- Automate provisioning and repeatable operational workflows through scripting and tooling.
- Improve disaster recovery readiness through monitoring and alerting for replication health, backups, and recovery workflows.
- Coordinate with security and risk teams to ensure disaster recovery solutions meet control and compliance expectations.
- Support FinOps practices including tagging, allocation, reporting, and cloud cost optimization.
- Analyze cloud spending, trends, and optimization opportunities using Apptio Cloudability or AWS Cost Management.
- Produce technical documentation and present information to influential audiences.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in cloud/platform engineering, DevOps/SRE, or systems engineering.
- Demonstrated experience implementing and testing disaster recovery strategies in AWS.
- Experience building and maintaining infrastructure-as-code and automation through scripting.
- Proficiency with AWS cloud platforms, networking, data storage, compute, backup/replication, and cloud resiliency methods.
- Proficiency with Terraform or comparable infrastructure-as-code tools and Python, PowerShell, and/or Bash.
- Strong understanding of RTO/RPO definition, runbook development, recovery validation, testing, and remediation.
- Familiarity with ISO 22301, FFIEC guidelines, NIST SP 800-34, and ITIL.
- At least one AWS certification, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer.
- Preferred qualifications include DRS and Terraform experience, FinOps Certified Practitioner certification, ITIL Foundation or similar certification, and familiarity with Splunk, Datadog, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CodePipeline, Docker, ECS, EKS, or Kubernetes.
- Strong analytical, written, verbal communication, documentation, and deadline-management skills.
