Responsibilities
- Define the charter, roadmap, success metrics, architecture, and technical direction for the first Developer Experience team.
- Recruit, hire, and mentor Staff and Senior Software Engineers while establishing the team’s engineering culture and technical bar.
- Partner with distributed engineering teams to identify architecture, tooling, and developer productivity challenges and translate them into an execution plan.
- Build scalable internal developer tools, platform capabilities, and infrastructure-as-code solutions for company-wide adoption.
- Establish shared technical standards, lead architecture and code reviews, and communicate decisions through design documents and technical reviews.
- Define and track developer productivity and DORA metrics to prioritize work and measure the team’s impact.
- Drive complex cross-team initiatives and adoption without relying on formal reporting authority.
- Travel to the US approximately 1–2 times per year to collaborate with engineering leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience and current operation at the Principal level or above.
- Proven experience setting architecture and technical direction across multiple systems or teams.
- Experience building internal developer tooling, developer productivity systems, CI/CD systems, or platform engineering capabilities at scale.
- Experience leading complex cross-team technical initiatives across geographies and time zones without formal authority.
- Strong fluency in C#, .NET, Python, AWS, and Java.
- Experience defining and using developer productivity metrics such as DORA metrics.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring Staff and Senior engineers.
- Strong technical writing skills and experience producing architecture documents, design proposals, and technical standards.
- Experience hiring and building a team from the ground up.
- Preferred experience founding or scaling a Developer Experience or Platform Engineering team.
- Preferred experience serving as a technical liaison across distributed US and India engineering teams.
- Experience in legal technology, professional-services SaaS, or regulated enterprise software is a plus.
- Public technical leadership through conference speaking, technical writing, open-source contributions, or broadly adopted architectural patterns is a plus.
- Experience partnering with a Product Manager to develop a roadmap under ambiguity is a plus.
