Responsibilities
- Design and implement multi-physics spacecraft simulation software covering dynamics, thermal systems, attitude control, propulsion, power, and sensor/actuator models.
- Develop coupled-physics algorithms, solver architectures, time-stepping methods, and integration schemes for real-time and faster-than-real-time simulation.
- Write production-quality C++ focused on performance, maintainability, and testability.
- Design and maintain C++ and Python APIs, documentation, examples, and user guides for internal engineering customers.
- Drive simulation architecture and interface decisions, conduct code reviews, assess technical risks, and contribute to planning and estimation.
- Mentor junior engineers and participate in technical interviews and candidate assessment.
- Define and execute verification and validation plans for physics-based models, including uncertainty quantification and comparison with test or flight data.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, physics, applied mathematics, or equivalent experience.
- 5–8 years of professional software development experience with significant focus on simulation, scientific computing, or aerospace applications.
- Proficiency in modern C++ including C++17 or newer, STL, templates, and performance optimization.
- Proficiency in Python for API design, scripting, and data analysis.
- Solid knowledge of at least one relevant domain such as ADCS, GNC, thermal control, electric power systems, propulsion, orbital mechanics, or HIL/SIL systems.
- Experience with verification and validation of physics-based models, uncertainty quantification, and validation against test or flight data.
- Ability to independently drive complex technical efforts, make sound systems-level design decisions, and communicate technical concepts clearly.
- U.S. citizenship and eligibility for DoD Secret or TS/SCI clearance.
- Preferred qualifications include aerospace or defense physics-based modeling and simulation, numerical methods, coordinate frames, quaternion mathematics, orbital mechanics, Git, CI/CD, CMake or Bazel, software testing frameworks, parallel computing, Docker, and HIL/SIL testing environments.
