Base Salary

$228k - $350k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Drive the technical roadmap and strategy for the Build Systems team.
  • Identify developer pain points with cross-functional partners and design scalable solutions.
  • Lead multi-quarter initiatives to reduce build and test times and improve CI reliability.
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable build systems, distributed CI platforms, and test frameworks serving thousands of engineers.
  • Architect and implement large-scale AWS infrastructure powering Figma’s build pipeline.
  • Mentor and develop teammates through technical guidance, code reviews, and architectural leadership.
  • Collaborate with product engineers, infrastructure teams, and executive stakeholders while communicating technical decisions clearly.
  • Track industry trends and incorporate relevant build systems, CI, and developer tooling technologies into the roadmap.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of engineering experience, including 4+ years on Infrastructure, Platform, or Developer Experience teams.
  • Deep expertise in build systems such as Bazel, Buck, Pants, or Gradle and experience operating large-scale monorepos.
  • Experience optimizing CI/CD, building developer tooling at scale, and designing reliable, high-performance distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, CI platforms such as Buildkite, Infrastructure as Code, and strong coding skills in Go, TypeScript, Python, or Ruby.
  • Proven technical leadership setting technical direction, driving cross-team initiatives, and communicating with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience migrating large codebases to modern build systems, especially Bazel, is a plus.
  • Experience building test frameworks and improving test infrastructure is a plus.
