Responsibilities
- Lead firmware development activities and own technical delivery from concept through product release.
- Define firmware architecture, system requirements, and technical specifications for embedded products and systems.
- Design, develop, test, optimize, and release embedded firmware for performance, reliability, maintainability, memory, and power efficiency.
- Manage software releases and development workflows, including Git, GitLab, code reviews, and CI pipelines.
- Provide technical problem-solving and engineering support for customer and product-related challenges.
- Coordinate external development partners and collaborate with cross-functional teams on product integration.
- Perform board bring-up, read schematics, and debug hardware-level issues.
- Follow stage-gate and New Product Introduction processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven firmware development experience for complex embedded products in demanding technical environments.
- Experience with hardware-integrated software and embedded system architectures.
- Experience leading firmware architecture, software releases, and development workflows.
- Strong expertise with embedded systems, ARM Cortex-M, and STMicroelectronics STM32 platforms.
- Strong programming skills in C and modern C++ for bare-metal and RTOS environments.
- Understanding of system engineering, electrical engineering, and firmware integration.
- Hands-on experience with SPI, I²C, UART, Ethernet, SDRAM, and CAN.
- Ability to read schematics, perform board bring-up, debug hardware-level issues, and optimize firmware.
- Strong system-level thinking, architectural decision-making, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to guide external development partners and work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Fluent Finnish language skills are required.
