Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end technology solution designs aligned with product requirements, enterprise architecture standards, and non-functional requirements.
- Create and maintain solution design documents, UML models, architecture diagrams, interface specifications, and implementation blueprints.
- Apply architecture principles, approved patterns, and reusable components while reducing complexity, dependencies, and technical debt.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, Platform, Data, Cloud, Security, Delivery, and Operations teams throughout the SDLC.
- Identify and mitigate technical, security, performance, integration, and operational risks.
- Evaluate design alternatives, document architecture decisions and exceptions, and balance risk, cost, delivery timelines, performance, and resiliency.
- Guide architecture exploration and production readiness, including operating models, SRE and operations handoffs, runbooks, SLOs, SLIs, and support considerations.
- Ensure solutions comply with enterprise standards, security policies, regulatory requirements, and operational expectations.
- Contribute to architecture reviews, reference architectures, shared patterns, templates, documentation standards, knowledge sharing, and engineering excellence.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of progressive technology experience, including 5 years in a Solution Architect, Technical Lead, Lead Developer, or equivalent role.
- Experience operating within a federated architecture model and applying enterprise principles, standards, and patterns while escalating deviations through governance.
- Ability to translate business and product outcomes into end-to-end solution designs with clear scope boundaries, assumptions, dependencies, and implementation guidance.
- T-shaped architecture capability across solution, application, integration, data, infrastructure, and security architecture, with depth in at least one relevant domain.
- Experience designing secure, resilient, and scalable solutions across cloud, SaaS, and on-premises environments.
- Strong understanding of modern integration patterns, including APIs, event-driven systems, messaging, and batch or stream processing where applicable.
- Strong non-functional requirements engineering across availability, resiliency, performance, security, privacy, observability, capacity, operability, and disaster recovery.
- Experience in financial services or another highly regulated environment, with knowledge of security, risk, and compliance expectations such as PCI DSS, ISO 27001/27002, or SOC 2.
- Experience with architecture spikes, prototypes, proofs of concept, production readiness, and DevSecOps practices including automated testing, security scanning, and quality gates.
- Strong decision-making, trade-off analysis, communication, stakeholder management, influence without direct authority, mentoring, and cross-team facilitation skills.
- Architecture, cloud, security, Kubernetes, or TOGAF certifications are an asset.
- Eligibility to work full-time for Interac Corp. in Canada.
