Responsibilities
- Define, refine, and deliver the product backlog with the Product Owner.
- Design and build software solutions that meet functional and non-functional requirements.
- Write and maintain unit tests, test frameworks, and automated test cases.
- Review and debug code to identify defects, performance bottlenecks, and technical debt.
- Participate in planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and continuous improvement of engineering practices.
- Participate in incident response and harden the platform based on production learnings.
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand needs, challenge assumptions, and measure business and user outcomes.
- Define system boundaries, integration patterns, architectural intent, specifications, and acceptance criteria.
- Review AI-generated work for correctness, security, maintainability, and design fit.
- Compose and supervise AI capabilities and agentic workflows within governed pipelines and quality gates.
- Share reusable engineering practices and help the team adopt and govern emerging AI development approaches.
Requirements
- Solid full-stack development experience across modern front-end and back-end technologies, with cloud or SaaS exposure.
- Strong understanding of software design, testing, and quality fundamentals.
- Experience working in Agile or Scrum teams and collaborating closely with Product.
- Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants or agentic tools in real delivery.
- Ability to write clear specifications and prompts and critically review AI-generated code.
- Curiosity and self-direction regarding emerging AI engineering practices.
- Comfort with ambiguity, change, complex problem solving, statistics, and algorithm development.
- T-shaped engineering capability with both depth and breadth across the software lifecycle.
- General knowledge of the insurance industry and degree-level education in a relevant discipline are desirable but not essential.
