Responsibilities
- Lead Marsh Risk’s European enterprise architecture strategy and guide its execution across concurrent projects and programs.
- Act as lead Solutions Architect for complex transformation initiatives, making decisions, resolving cross-team issues, and ensuring architectural consistency.
- Lead or coordinate Solution Architects and delivery teams to implement architecture as designed.
- Develop and maintain enterprise roadmaps aligned with business strategy while managing platform obsolescence and architectural risk.
- Design and govern solutions using packaged and custom applications, SaaS platforms, shared capabilities, IT platforms, and cloud services.
- Produce and govern architecture artifacts covering conceptual and logical architecture, data and integration models, deployment and support models, security, resilience, and non-functional requirements.
- Maintain the Enterprise Architecture repository and provide guidance across architecture domains.
- Review and approve architecture deliverables and ensure adherence to standards and guidelines.
- Evaluate vendors, products, and third-party deliverables for quality and alignment with Marsh standards.
- Participate in or lead governance forums and deputize for the Head of Architecture when required.
Requirements
- Typically 10+ years of experience in systems design or solution architecture, with strong web computing foundations and enterprise delivery experience.
- Demonstrated success leading architecture for enterprise-scale applications, projects, and complex transformation programs.
- Strong experience creating architecture artifacts and communicating logical, integration, and deployment views.
- Strong understanding of SDLC and full-lifecycle implementations across traditional and modern delivery methods.
- Broad experience with custom-built enterprise applications, packaged/COTS solutions, SaaS platforms, cloud services, integration, APIs/services, XML, JSON, REST, UML, architecture modeling, databases, and NoSQL concepts.
- Strong SQL Server and T-SQL experience.
- Experience guiding development, infrastructure, and project teams while maintaining architectural standards and alignment.
- Strong vendor management and assurance capabilities.
- Excellent problem-solving, prioritization, stakeholder management, and communication skills, including explaining complex technical issues to senior management.
- Experience working effectively with global in-house, contract, offshore, and third-party teams.
- Preferred experience with TOGAF/ADM, enterprise architecture viewpoints, Agile and DevOps practices, containerization, messaging technologies, mentoring, and emerging technology including AI.
