Base Salary
$163k - $204k/yr
Responsibilities
- Execute technical strategy for the team’s domain and contribute to the broader Tax Engineering roadmap.
- Design, build, and test experiences for adding and updating tax information.
- Support the software platform powering multiple first- and third-party products serving millions of businesses.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, Design, Data Science, Compliance, Operations, and other teams on complex problems.
- Mentor and grow fellow engineers while driving scalable solutions.
- Lead product development from concept through launch and improve design systems, components, interfaces, foundational systems, and architecture.
- Apply AI tools in the engineering workflow and identify opportunities to simplify tax workflows and provide proactive customer guidance.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Expertise in React and TypeScript, with experience in Ruby on Rails, SQL, or other backend languages.
- Experience working in large, complex codebases and building, testing, and incrementally improving production software at scale.
- Experience in payroll, taxes, or compliance is preferred.
- Experience applying AI tools to accelerate development, improve code quality, and build testing workflows.
- Strong systems thinking, analytical ability, communication skills, and collaborative working style.
