Responsibilities
- Measure, analyze, and control the relationship between power and performance in Apple systems.
- Study workload execution on Apple silicon across Apple platforms.
- Design and conduct performance experiments and create instrumentation and data visualizations.
- Prototype in-kernel performance-control algorithms.
- Collaborate with core operating-system and user-facing application teams.
- Productize software that controls workload performance across Apple products.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a similar engineering field.
- Academic or practical experience with operating-system design and implementation.
- Preferred: master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a similar engineering field.
- Preferred: kernel software development experience in C or C++.
- Preferred: knowledge of computer architecture and hardware-performance monitoring instrumentation.
- Preferred: userland software development experience with C, C++, Swift, or Python.
- Preferred: experience with system-level performance profiling, debugging tools, and tracing frameworks such as DTrace, Instruments, or perf.
- Preferred: familiarity with data analysis, statistical modeling, or visualization techniques for interpreting power and performance metrics.
