
Embedded Software Engineering Intern

Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain embedded software for flight computers with an emphasis on real-time performance and reliability.
- Write and optimize C code for ARM Cortex-M or similar microcontrollers.
- Implement drivers, bootloaders, and peripheral middleware for UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, and GPIO.
- Integrate algorithms for navigation, control, and data processing into embedded applications.
- Debug software on custom hardware in collaboration with hardware engineers.
- Perform unit, integration, and system-level testing of embedded software.
- Ensure compliance with safety-critical aerospace standards and real-time system requirements.
- Participate in system architecture design and software code reviews.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR/EAR regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Expertise in C programming for embedded systems.
- Strong hands-on experience with ARM Cortex-M or similar microcontrollers.
- Proven experience in embedded system design, coding, and debugging.
- Experience with RTOS such as FreeRTOS for scheduling and task management.
- Familiarity with JTAG, SWD, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
- Strong understanding of deterministic, real-time software design.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Preferred qualifications include NXP i.MX RT experience, aerospace software standards such as DO-178C, embedded Linux, avionics or flight computer architectures, Git, assembly language, and Guidance, Navigation, and Control applications.
