Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain software in C++, C#, and Python for commercial, industrial, defense, autonomous, and networked systems.
- Design, implement, and maintain graphical user interfaces for operator, engineering, and customer-facing applications.
- Support software architecture, design reviews, code reviews, integration across hardware and firmware, troubleshooting, and field deployment.
- Develop automated test frameworks and conduct functional, integration, regression, performance, system-level, verification, and validation testing.
- Create test plans, procedures, validation protocols, verification reports, defect records, and corrective action documentation.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, Git-based configuration management, software build and release processes, and Docker-based deployments.
- Maintain development and deployment environments and create automation tools and scripts to improve engineering efficiency.
- Support AI-assisted coding, testing, code review, quality processes, and adoption of emerging development, DevOps, and testing technologies.
- Maintain software documentation, user guides, technical reports, release notes, configuration records, and traceability documentation.
- Collaborate with software, systems, electrical, quality assurance, and project management teams across the software lifecycle.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 3 to 7+ years of experience in software development, software testing, DevOps, or related technical roles.
- Experience with CI/CD, DevOps practices, automated test frameworks, Linux-based software systems, and cross-platform software development.
- Strong C++ programming experience and competency in C# and Python, with object-oriented, multithreaded, and real-time software development experience.
- Experience with Qt or other cross-platform GUI development and an understanding of usability principles.
- Knowledge of network programming, TCP/IP, UDP, client-server architectures, and distributed systems.
- Experience creating test plans, verification procedures, test reports, and applying software quality assurance and lifecycle traceability practices.
- Preferred experience includes autonomous systems, robotics, defense or aerospace, sensor systems, data acquisition, embedded software, simulation, test automation, cybersecurity, and AI-assisted development tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, organizational, and collaboration skills with a commitment to software quality.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain Canadian Controlled Goods and Canadian Government Security clearances.
