Responsibilities
- Develop and operate GCP infrastructure, including GKE, virtual machines, networking, load balancers, storage, and managed services.
- Manage Terraform infrastructure-as-code modules, state, dependencies, configuration drift, and safe infrastructure changes.
- Operate and upgrade Kubernetes clusters and platform components, including autoscaling, workload placement, networking, and resource allocation.
- Build CI/CD and GitOps automation with GitLab CI, Flux, and Argo CD for builds, deployments, releases, and rollbacks.
- Implement observability using metrics, logs, distributed tracing, alerting, and SLIs/SLOs.
- Troubleshoot production incidents and performance issues, perform root cause analysis, and eliminate recurring failures.
- Implement least-privilege access, service isolation, secrets management, infrastructure auditing, backups, and recovery validation.
- Help engineering teams prepare services for production through health checks, resource configuration, telemetry, and deployment procedures.
- Optimize cloud infrastructure costs while maintaining reliability requirements.
- Maintain infrastructure documentation, operational runbooks, and recovery procedures.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience independently operating production infrastructure and Kubernetes, including upgrades, troubleshooting, and disaster recovery.
- Strong GCP experience, including GKE, Compute Engine, VPC, IAM, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, Cloud Logging, and Cloud Monitoring.
- Hands-on Terraform experience covering modules, remote state, locking, importing resources, and CI-based infrastructure changes.
- Deep knowledge of Kubernetes, containerization, Deployments, StatefulSets, Services, Ingress, storage, resource requests and limits, probes, autoscaling, RBAC, and NetworkPolicy.
- Experience with Helm and Kustomize.
- Strong Linux administration skills, preferably with Debian or Ubuntu.
- Strong networking knowledge covering TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP(S), TLS, routing, NAT, load balancing, and firewalls.
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines, preferably with GitLab CI, and understanding of Git and GitOps principles.
- Automation experience with Bash and Python, including infrastructure scripts and API integrations.
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Cloud Monitoring.
- Practical experience operating PostgreSQL and understanding Redis and RabbitMQ, including availability, replication or clustering, backup, and recovery.
- Strong understanding of cloud security principles, including least privilege, service accounts, Workload Identity, secrets management, network segmentation, and access auditing.
- Ability to deliver infrastructure changes to validated production results, explain technical trade-offs, and collaborate with Engineering and Security teams.
- Preferred experience with Flux CD, Argo CD, Ansible, HashiCorp Vault, OpenTelemetry, cloud or Kubernetes migrations, disaster recovery exercises, cost optimization, capacity planning, DigitalOcean, Hetzner, AWS, and JavaScript or TypeScript troubleshooting.
- Experience operating financial or payment services with strict access control, auditing, reliability, and data integrity requirements is a plus.
