Responsibilities
- Define architectural blueprints, engineering standards, best practices, and cross-platform integration strategies.
- Lead the design and implementation of large-scale, low-latency distributed systems and scalable software platforms.
- Translate business goals into technical solutions, platform investments, roadmaps, design artifacts, and implementation plans.
- Mentor senior engineers, engineering leaders, architects, and technical talent across the organization.
- Drive system scalability, availability, security, privacy, compliance, observability, automation, and operational excellence.
- Influence senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders across product, engineering, operations, security, compliance, and business teams.
- Oversee system health, vulnerability management, architectural risk mitigation, and continuous improvement in developer productivity and system quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or a related area plus 6 years of software engineering or related experience, or 8 years of software engineering or related experience.
- Deep working knowledge of cloud-native distributed system development, with Azure, GCP, or WCNP preferred.
- Strong experience building full-stack, multi-platform, large-scale, low-latency systems using distributed architectures.
- Proven experience leading large engineering efforts, mentoring technical leaders, and applying rigorous system design practices.
- Strong hands-on coding experience with the ability to work deeply on architecture and implementation.
- Experience designing, developing, and scaling software platforms for large user bases with modularity, extensibility, and maintainability.
- Experience partnering with product, program management, QA, release management, operations, and engineering teams.
- Experience working with geographically distributed teams and aligning diverse stakeholders around technical goals.
- Strong business acumen, communication skills, ownership, technical judgment, and comfort operating in ambiguous environments.
- Knowledge of current AI tools for engineering.
- Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree in a relevant computer science or engineering field plus 4 years of software engineering experience.
- Preferred accessibility experience includes WCAG 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility best practices.
- A preferred experience profile also cites a BS plus 15 or more years in the field or an MS plus 12 or more years of experience.
