Responsibilities
- Develop safety- and security-critical embedded software for new programmable logic controllers.
- Design and implement controller features, subsystems, software systems, libraries, and frameworks across hardware and software environments.
- Lead high- and detailed-level design while coordinating with development teams, architects, marketing, and management.
- Construct testable requirements, implement test plans, and promote automated test engineering practices.
- Use continuous integration and development tools and improve engineering tools and practices across the global organization.
- Monitor and improve team health, predictability, and velocity within an Agile Release Train.
- Mentor less experienced personnel and encourage knowledge sharing across the development community.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of relevant work experience.
- Typically at least 3 years of software engineering experience with professional software design and development experience.
- Knowledge of object-oriented analysis, design, and programming techniques, especially C++.
- Experience with real-time embedded development environments and developing software for safety and security standards such as IEC 61508 or IEC 62443.
- Experience developing automated tests and tools in a high-level language such as Python.
- Knowledge of industrial protocols, especially Common Industrial Protocol (CIP), and communication technologies such as Ethernet, USB, or PCI Express.
- Experience developing device drivers or other low-level embedded software.
- Knowledge of modern Intel and ARM architectures and embedded hypervisors.
- Experience with bare-metal, embedded RTOS, or Linux environments.
- Advanced engineering, computer science, or controls coursework or degree is preferred.
