Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software for real-time and Linux-based product platforms.
- Develop low-level drivers, hardware interfaces, and application software.
- Contribute to new product development and maintenance of released products, including defect fixes, feature additions, and software improvements.
- Investigate defects and improve product performance, reliability, and maintainability.
- Participate in planning, estimation, reviews, and continuous improvement within an Agile development environment.
- Create technical documentation for software design, testing, release, and long-term product support.
- Take ownership of assigned work and collaborate with software, electronics, mechanical, and product teams.
Requirements
- Strong embedded software design and development experience using C or C++ on real-time or embedded Linux platforms.
- Experience with real-time control using an RTOS such as FreeRTOS on Cortex-M microcontrollers.
- Experience with embedded Linux layers including kernel configuration, device drivers, bootloaders, and user-space applications.
- Experience with WinCE embedded systems.
- Familiarity with embedded build toolchains and systems such as GCC, Make, CMake, or Buildroot.
- Experience diagnosing issues on target hardware using tools such as Trace32 or GDB.
- Practical experience with Visual Studio, Eclipse, Git, GitHub, Jira, or similar development tools and workflows.
- Openness to using AI-assisted development tools such as Copilot and Claude.
- Good communication, collaboration, problem-solving, debugging, and engineering judgment skills.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Useful additional qualifications include FPGA experience with VHDL, ModelSim/Questa, or Xilinx tools and devices.
- C# or Python experience for test applications, diagnostics, or engineering tools is useful.
- Experience with Ethernet/IP or PROFINET, industrial sensors, actuators, motion control, stepper motors, electronic schematics, or complex data sheets is useful.
