Responsibilities
- Own Android development and build a strong understanding of the existing codebase and solutions.
- Choose technologies and approaches based on technical problems and long-term product needs.
- Contribute across product development areas including pixel-perfect design, analytics, payments, and user authentication.
- Build features ranging from custom views and APIs to 2D/3D graphics, VR, AI, CRDT, and related capabilities.
- Use Android libraries and Kotlin solutions to develop the product.
- Help resolve technical problems, answer questions, and identify practical solutions.
- Develop a modular codebase, conduct thorough code reviews, and follow coding guidelines and best practices.
- Work with technical and non-technical teams.
- Mentor developers and support hiring as the team grows.
Requirements
- 7+ years of Android development experience, including leadership experience.
- Extensive experience with Kotlin and Java.
- Extensive knowledge of the Android ecosystem, including Android SDK, Jetpack, Dagger, and common libraries.
- Experience with SQL, SQLite, Room, Kotlin Coroutines, RxJava, REST APIs, JSON, XML, Git, and Protobuf.
- Strong understanding of software design, code quality, and testing practices.
- Ability to write clean, readable, maintainable code and make and explain technical decisions and trade-offs.
- Experience providing mentoring and constructive feedback to developers.
- Experience with in-app payments and subscriptions.
- Strong ownership, clear communication, and ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical teams.
- Fluent English.
- Preferred experience with 2D/3D graphics technologies including Canvas, OpenGL, Vulkan, or Google Filament.
