Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance web applications using Node.js on the backend and React on the frontend.
- Build responsive and accessible interfaces for course delivery, lesson management, assessments, progress tracking, and user dashboards.
- Develop scalable backend services and RESTful or GraphQL APIs using JavaScript and TypeScript.
- Design serverless functions for background processing, integrations, scheduled jobs, and event-driven workflows.
- Implement real-time or near-real-time functionality for live sessions, notifications, collaboration, and learner engagement.
- Ensure application performance, reliability, accessibility, and responsiveness across desktop and mobile devices.
- Troubleshoot production issues, identify performance bottlenecks, and implement scalable solutions.
- Collaborate with product managers, instructional designers, designers, and engineers to define and ship features.
- Write maintainable, documented code; improve existing systems through refactoring, optimization, and modernization.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional Node.js backend development experience.
- At least 3 years of experience with React and modern frontend tooling.
- Strong knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript, asynchronous programming, and event-driven systems.
- Experience building RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs and designing serverless functions.
- Familiarity with NestJS, Express, or Fastify.
- Strong understanding of HTML5, CSS3, responsive design, accessibility standards, and cross-browser compatibility.
- Experience with state management solutions such as Redux, Zustand, or React Query.
- Experience with real-time or event-driven systems and practical experience with Redis.
- Ability to design systems that scale to large numbers of concurrent learners.
- Proficiency with PostgreSQL or MySQL and experience with query optimization.
- Experience with ORMs or query builders such as Prisma, TypeORM, Sequelize, or Knex.
- Experience deploying and operating applications in AWS, GCP, or Azure cloud environments.
- Understanding of managed databases, queues, object storage, caching solutions, serverless architectures, and event-driven workflows.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, Git workflows, and collaborative development.
- Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience with eLearning, LMS, content-driven platforms, video streaming, live sessions, assessments, certifications, progress tracking, reporting systems, payment gateway integrations, GDPR, Docker, automated testing, monitoring, logging, or observability is beneficial.
