Base Salary

$120k - $261k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the BIOS/UEFI portfolio supporting infrastructure across the Azure fleet.
  • Improve Azure BIOS/UEFI security by resolving vulnerabilities and keeping firmware components current.
  • Oversee BIOS/UEFI development, validation, compliance, schedules, and rollout plans for new hardware SKUs.
  • Implement BIOS/UEFI requirements that improve performance, telemetry, and diagnostics.
  • Manage requirements and feature delivery through sprints, backlogs, milestones, and continuous planning.
  • Define vendor-agnostic hardware requirements and collaborate with silicon vendors, ODMs, OEMs, architects, technical program managers, and engineering leaders.
  • Advance BIOS/UEFI standardization efforts within Microsoft and across the silicon industry.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field and 1+ year of technical engineering experience; or a master’s degree and 4+ years; or a bachelor’s degree and 5+ years; or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
  • Preferred: 10+ years of experience, with the majority as a Technical Lead or similar.
  • Proficiency developing low-level firmware or software for hardware platforms, including BIOS, UEFI, EDK2, and BMC.
  • Experience with leadership, cross-functional collaboration, complex project oversight, product lifecycle management, strategic planning, and success metrics.
  • Preferred experience with firmware/software development, testing strategies, requirements definition, CPU/SoC product development, and data center hardware/software projects.
  • Preferred: 7+ years of software development experience using languages such as C, C++, C#, or Python.

Benefits

  • The typical U.S. base pay range is USD $119,800–$234,700 per year; the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area range is USD $160,200–$261,000 per year.
  • Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
  • The position will remain open for a minimum of 5 days and accept applications on an ongoing basis until filled.
