Responsibilities
- Own the health, uptime, triage, diagnosis, and resolution of deployed imaging systems.
- Run first- and second-line support escalations from customer-support and mission-success channels.
- Create and maintain runbooks, diagnostics, and self-service tooling to reduce recurring issues.
- Reproduce, document, and hand off genuine software defects to Mission Software Engineers.
- Feed field reliability insights into improved observability, safer upgrades, and more graceful failure.
- Participate in scheduled after-hours and weekend on-call coverage.
- Travel approximately 15% for field support and deployment windows.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in SRE, DevOps, field/systems engineering, or production support for deployed hardware/software systems.
- Strong Linux fundamentals and experience troubleshooting networking issues involving IP, routing, VPNs, and constrained field connectivity.
- Ability to diagnose issues across networking, services, and hardware interactions with incomplete system visibility.
- Comfort owning a structured on-call rotation with after-hours and weekend coverage.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including remote troubleshooting with non-technical operators and incident documentation.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret clearance.
- Preferred experience supporting fielded systems and hardware or sensor systems such as EO/IR, including sensor calibration.
- Preferred diagnostic and automation scripting experience with Python, Bash, or similar tools.
- Preferred familiarity with Nix or NixOS, systemd service management, Linux observability practices, and incident tooling such as PagerDuty.
