Responsibilities

  • Build and improve backend services supporting reliable, scalable customer sessions.
  • Develop well-structured backend code using Java or similar object-oriented languages.
  • Build and maintain APIs, services, and database-backed functionality for high-volume traffic.
  • Test changes and improve service reliability, observability, and supportability.
  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, planning sessions, and team ceremonies.
  • Investigate bugs and support issues, identify root causes, and implement improvements.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product partners, and stakeholders to improve session-management reliability and performance.
  • Maintain technical documentation for service operation and support.

Requirements

  • Some experience building backend software through work, internships, placements, bootcamps, university projects, or personal projects.
  • Understanding of Java or a similar object-oriented programming language and interest in backend services and APIs.
  • Familiarity with databases and SQL, including interest in data modeling, performance, and scaling.
  • Awareness of common data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
  • Interest in distributed systems, reliability, monitoring, and high-traffic backend systems in production.
  • Understanding of testing basics and willingness to write tests during everyday development.
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies, containers, or CI/CD is helpful but not required.
  • Ability to collaborate in a team, ask questions, receive feedback, and learn from others.
  • Practical problem-solving approach and desire to improve code and documentation.
