Responsibilities

  • Develop and validate GPU kernel drivers and graphics software across Linux platforms and contribute to open-source graphics software where applicable.
  • Debug and optimize Linux DRM/KMD drivers, including root-cause analysis of kernel panics, regressions, deadlocks, race conditions, and memory corruption.
  • Design and implement driver features, enhancements, and optimizations in the Linux DRM/KMD subsystem.
  • Backport upstream Intel GPU drivers to LTS, enterprise, and customized customer kernels and maintain compatibility layers and out-of-tree packaging.
  • Collaborate with firmware, KMD, user-space runtime, and compute/graphics teams to ensure GPU stack integration, compatibility, and stability.
  • Partner with validation and DevOps teams on multi-kernel test matrices, regression suites, and automated build pipelines.
  • Participate in design and code reviews while maintaining Linux kernel coding standards for upstream and backported driver deliverables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electronics/Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in large-scale software product development focused on Linux kernel and system software engineering.
  • Expert-level C programming knowledge and deep understanding of Linux kernel internals, driver architecture, memory management, concurrency, locking primitives, and interrupt handling.
  • Proven experience developing and debugging Linux DRM/KMD drivers and device-driver debugging mechanisms.
  • Hands-on experience backporting Linux kernel patches and drivers across kernel versions, including kernel API/ABI drift and compatibility-wrapper construction.
  • Proficiency with Linux kernel debugging tools including ftrace, perf, kdump/crash, kgdb, GDB, dynamic debug, stack traces, and lockdep reports.
  • Preferred: master's degree in a listed engineering or computer science field.
  • Preferred: experience with Linux DRM/KMS, TTM, GEM, DMA-BUF, DKMS, Kbuild backport frameworks, RPM, DEB, RHEL, SLES, Ubuntu LTS, and multi-kernel distribution packaging.
  • Preferred: experience resolving kernel regressions involving schedulers, memory allocators, power management, and PCIe buses.
