$154k - $232k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical design of complex ML features and systems and make architectural decisions.
- Design and refine ML features and pipelines with data scientists across the ML lifecycle.
- Build durable, production-ready solutions with testing, observability, documentation, and scalable architecture.
- Solve complex and ambiguous technical bugs and drive adoption of engineering best practices.
- Estimate projects, manage technical risks, remove roadblocks, and deliver major features or projects.
- Run and interpret A/B tests and statistical analyses to evaluate model and feature impact.
- Use customer feedback, usage, and product data to influence product direction and post-launch iteration.
- Partner with Product, Design, product engineers, product managers, and data/AI scientists.
- Share best practices, provide teammate feedback, and improve team standards and effectiveness.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience.
- Knowledge of data science and AI tools and frameworks including Python, Scikit-learn, NLTK, NumPy, Pandas, TensorFlow, Keras, R, and Spark.
- Strong understanding of machine learning techniques including classification, regression, clustering, and broader ML principles.
- Strong computer science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, performance complexity, and computer architecture.
- Software engineering fundamentals, including Git/GitHub and the ability to write production-ready code.
- Experience deploying highly scalable software supporting millions or more users.
- Experience with GPU acceleration using CUDA and cuDNN and with cloud platforms such as AWS and GCP.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex material to non-technical audiences.

- Expected base pay varies by location: $171,000–$231,500 in Mountain View and $154,000–$208,500 in San Diego, California.
