Base Salary

$140k - $175k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design perception and computer vision systems for autonomous aerial platforms in GPS-denied and contested environments.
  • Develop object detection, classification, segmentation, tracking, scene understanding, obstacle detection, collision avoidance, and situational-awareness capabilities using RGB, thermal, and multimodal data.
  • Develop visual-inertial odometry, localization, mapping, SLAM, and vision-based navigation systems.
  • Fuse camera, IMU, GPS, lidar, and radar data using robust estimation and sensor-fusion methods.
  • Train, deploy, evaluate, and optimize deep-learning perception models for real-time inference on embedded and edge-AI hardware.
  • Create data processing, labeling, augmentation, evaluation, simulation, and testing pipelines.
  • Integrate RGB, stereo, fisheye, thermal, and event-based cameras, including calibration and synchronization workflows.
  • Support software-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop, flight testing, flight-data analysis, validation, documentation, and field deployments.
  • Collaborate with autonomy, GNC, flight software, AI, hardware, and cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 2–4 years of industry experience in computer vision, robotics, machine learning, or autonomous systems, or a master’s degree with 1–2 years of industry experience.
  • Strong proficiency in C++, Python, or Rust.
  • Experience with OpenCV and modern computer vision frameworks.
  • Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar machine-learning frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of image processing, geometric vision, and camera systems.
  • Experience with object detection, tracking, segmentation, and machine-learning-based perception algorithms.
  • Familiarity with sensor fusion and state estimation techniques.
  • Experience with ROS/ROS2 or similar robotics middleware and software development in Linux environments.
  • Preferred experience includes a master’s or PhD, autonomous aircraft or UAV systems, visual SLAM, visual-inertial odometry, camera calibration, lidar/radar/thermal/inertial sensor integration, embedded AI deployment, simulation environments, real-time optimization, open-source robotics contributions, and defense-industry standards or security-clearance processes.
