Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test embedded firmware for microcontroller- and microprocessor-based systems.
- Lead firmware development for specific modules or subsystems.
- Perform hardware bring-up, board-level debugging, validation, and root-cause analysis.
- Develop test plans, execute testing, and document architecture, designs, and test results.
- Contribute to firmware architecture, requirements, interfaces, code reviews, and engineering process improvements.
- Collaborate with hardware, systems, and application engineers.
- Mentor Embedded Engineer I and II team members and provide technical guidance.
- Perform other duties assigned by the engineering team lead.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least five years of professional embedded firmware or software development experience.
- Strong proficiency in C and/or C++ for embedded targets.
- Experience with RTOS-based development, ARM Cortex-M or similar architectures, embedded communication protocols, hardware bring-up, board-level debugging, and version control systems such as Git.
- Ability to independently debug complex hardware/software interactions and communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
- Adherence to applicable laws, codes, policies, regulations, safety practices, and company procedures.
- Successful establishment of employment eligibility, background checks, and required pre-employment testing.
- Preferred: experience with safety-critical or regulated development, bootloaders, firmware updates, low-power design, wireless protocols, static analysis tools, CI/CD pipelines, and secure firmware design.
