Responsibilities
- Own the cloud-to-edge hub-and-spoke contract and ensure edge nodes mirror cloud architecture at small scale.
- Build identity federation, cached-credential authentication, and RBAC propagation for disconnected edge environments.
- Own data-refresh, state-consistency, reconciliation, and republishing-cache behavior between cloud and edge systems.
- Automate propagation of cloud architecture changes to edge NixOS closures to prevent configuration drift.
- Define and test failover and reconnect behavior under degraded, disconnected, intermittent, and limited conditions.
- Set technical direction for the sub-team and mentor individual contributors.
Requirements
- Active U.S. Top Secret/SCI clearance that can be maintained.
- Strong software engineering background and proficiency in Go, Rust, or Python.
- Knowledge of distributed-systems fundamentals including consensus, conflict resolution, and eventual consistency.
- Cloud architecture expertise, preferably with GCP, VPC, identity providers, and networking.
- Comfort deploying and operating systems at the edge, including on-premises and bare-metal environments.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
- Preferred: demonstrated ownership of a reliability/SRE or platform-engineering charter.
