Base Salary

$155k - $253k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Define the overall architecture and roadmap of the operating system.
  • Develop, design, and implement kernel, system services, runtime, application framework, BSP, and hardware abstraction layer components.
  • Write and review foundational, performance-critical code across core OS components.
  • Lead implementation of interprocess communication, memory management, security sandboxing, networking, and power/performance features.
  • Engage with open-source projects, submit RFCs, become a committer, and participate in the open-source community.
  • Collaborate with hardware partners and OEMs on BSPs, HALs, device drivers, and integration strategies.
  • Shape technical direction and mentor engineers.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of software development experience, with emphasis on low-level systems or operating system development.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Deep expertise in C and C++.
  • Experience with Unix/Linux kernels or embedded systems.
  • Experience with performance optimization, memory management, threading, and concurrency.
  • Proven experience designing and shipping large-scale software or systems.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and experience mentoring engineers.
  • Familiarity with open-source processes and tools, source control, and distributed code bases.
  • Master’s degree or PhD in computer science or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience with OEMs, device drivers, or hardware integration, such as ARM chipsets or cellular modem interfaces, is preferred.
  • Strong background in security and sandboxing models is preferred.
  • Published contributions to open-source operating system projects or kernel subsystems are preferred.
