Base Salary
$155k - $253k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define the overall architecture and roadmap of the operating system.
- Develop, design, and implement kernel, system services, runtime, application framework, BSP, and hardware abstraction layer components.
- Write and review foundational, performance-critical code across core OS components.
- Lead implementation of interprocess communication, memory management, security sandboxing, networking, and power/performance features.
- Engage with open-source projects, submit RFCs, become a committer, and participate in the open-source community.
- Collaborate with hardware partners and OEMs on BSPs, HALs, device drivers, and integration strategies.
- Shape technical direction and mentor engineers.
Requirements
- 6+ years of software development experience, with emphasis on low-level systems or operating system development.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
- Deep expertise in C and C++.
- Experience with Unix/Linux kernels or embedded systems.
- Experience with performance optimization, memory management, threading, and concurrency.
- Proven experience designing and shipping large-scale software or systems.
- Demonstrated technical leadership and experience mentoring engineers.
- Familiarity with open-source processes and tools, source control, and distributed code bases.
- Master’s degree or PhD in computer science or a related field is preferred.
- Experience with OEMs, device drivers, or hardware integration, such as ARM chipsets or cellular modem interfaces, is preferred.
- Strong background in security and sandboxing models is preferred.
- Published contributions to open-source operating system projects or kernel subsystems are preferred.
