Base Salary
$298k - $368k/yr
Responsibilities
- Set the overarching technical architecture and multi-year technical vision for the in-car experience across hardware, operating system, and rider-facing application layers.
- Identify cross-team bottlenecks such as OS stability, rendering performance, and release automation, and translate them into actionable engineering milestones.
- Steer technical integration of high-impact features including 3D car views, AI features, and the in-car application ecosystem.
- Establish high standards for code health, system reliability, and testing while providing technical mentorship to junior and senior engineers.
- Make significant individual contributions in design and code, including implementing large changes and investigating complex bugs.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a technical lead setting strategic technical direction and delivering solutions for complex, multi-team domains.
- Experience with Android/AOSP, including building Android platform features and frameworks rather than only developing applications.
- Deep expertise in Android OS internals, C++ native layers, Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, modern application and embedded systems, and complementary backend systems.
- Strong system design skills, including decoupling monolithic architectures, building reusable platform infrastructure, and optimizing resource-constrained environments.
- Exceptional communication and cross-functional leadership skills, with the ability to influence without direct authority across Product, UX, Systems Engineering, and Hardware teams.
- A proven track record of deploying agent systems to improve team velocity.
- Familiarity with automotive Android is preferred.
- Experience establishing frameworks for third-party experiences is preferred.
- Experience integrating new hardware features into extensible frameworks for first-party and third-party use is preferred.
