Base Salary
$228k - $469k/yr
Responsibilities
- Conduct applied AI and machine learning research relevant to Pinterest challenges across Ads, Discovery, Growth, and Search.
- Identify, scope, architect, build, and deliver novel machine learning solutions from 0 to 1 at scale.
- Drive research, architecture, scaling, and production deployment of Generative Recommendation Systems and reinforcement learning solutions.
- Identify research opportunities, develop long-term research strategy and plans, and expand the impact of Applied Science.
- Provide technical leadership and partner with Product, Engineering, and Data Science to translate complex solutions into product impact.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners, contribute to external collaborations, and mentor others.
Requirements
- MS or PhD in Computer Science, or equivalent industry experience.
- At least 6 years of relevant industry experience.
- Hands-on experience with large-scale recommendation systems and reinforcement learning applications.
- Technical leadership experience driving ambiguous research problems into production deliverables.
- Publications at top machine learning conferences such as KDD, NeurIPS, or RecSys.
- Experience with LLM or VLM post-training is preferred.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.
