Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Investigate complex reliability, performance, data-quality, and customer-workflow issues across Microsoft Advertising services, APIs, and workflows.
- Design, build, and maintain AI-driven automation, scripts, services, and internal web tools to reduce diagnostic time and manual operational work.
- Write production-quality code, implement fixes, improve monitoring and alerting, and contribute to shared libraries and tooling through code review and CI/CD practices.
- Lead root-cause analysis and post-incident follow-through with engineering teams, including action items, automation, and production changes.
- Create and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end automated tests and participate in bug bashes and release-readiness activities.
- Communicate during live-site events through service alerts, investigation updates, and actionable stakeholder guidance.
- Analyze escalation trends, develop problem statements, propose engineering solutions, and influence product roadmaps.
- Document troubleshooting knowledge, build self-service experiences for Tier 1 and Tier 2 teams, and mentor others on debugging tools and techniques.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, data science, cybersecurity, or a related field, plus 2+ years of relevant technical experience, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to pass Microsoft and applicable customer or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud background check.
- Strong coding ability in at least one general-purpose language, including C#, Java, Python, or TypeScript/JavaScript, with emphasis on maintainable and testable code.
- Experience building automation or services that integrate with APIs, databases, and distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience debugging with logs, metrics, and traces in live-site or production environments.
- Experience using AI-based coding tools such as GitHub Copilot or ChatGPT while validating correctness, security, and performance.
- Preferred experience in online advertising, search, e-commerce, large-scale consumer products, or advertising domains including Organic and Paid Search, Display, Native, and Video.
- Preferred proficiency developing operational tools and automation in C# and experience with customer-facing Tier 3 technical support or software development organizations.
- Preferred 3+ years of technical experience with large-scale cloud or distributed systems.
- Knowledge of at least two areas including data mining, web mining, machine learning, statistics, business intelligence or customer intelligence, user modeling, information retrieval, databases, data warehousing, ETL, or measurement.
Benefits
- Typical U.S. base pay range is $102,100–$202,200 per year, with a separate San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area range of $133,800–$219,200 per year; certain roles may also be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
- Employees within a 50-mile commute of a designated Microsoft U.S. hub are generally expected to work from the office at least four days per week, subject to local law and jurisdiction.
- The position is open for at least five days and accepts applications on an ongoing basis until filled.
