Base Salary
$207k - $300k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and implement dynamic context construction strategies for RAG systems.
- Optimize retrieval for limited context windows, massive schema documentation, precision, recall, and cost.
- Lead evaluation and fine-tuning of dense, sparse, and hybrid embedding strategies for domain-specific YouTube terminology.
- Represent data tables, column definitions, and debug logs in vector space.
- Build real-time data pipelines that keep semantic indexes fresh as YouTube data schemas evolve.
- Mentor Senior Engineers, lead technical roadmap planning, and collaborate with Google DeepMind and YouTube infrastructure teams.
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions while managing project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 8 years of software development experience.
- At least 5 years of experience testing and launching software products and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
- At least 5 years of experience with machine learning algorithms and tools, artificial intelligence, deep learning, or natural language processing.
- Experience with data structures and algorithms.
- Experience leading technical strategy for large-scale projects and mentoring executive engineers.
- Experience designing and implementing complex context retrieval systems for large language models in production.
- Proficiency in SQL.
- Understanding of vector space models and semantic search, including experience evaluating dense, sparse, and re-ranking retrieval strategies.
- Ability to query massive datasets to diagnose model behavior, identify edge cases, and guide data-informed architectural decisions.

- US base salary of $207000 - $300000, plus a 20% bonus target, equity, and benefits.
