Responsibilities
- Build infrastructure supporting Netflix’s large-scale ML and AI systems.
- Work on distributed training, post-training, offline infrastructure, inference optimization, and model serving.
- Collaborate with modeling teams on model–system co-design.
- Solve open-ended infrastructure challenges at Netflix scale.
- Complete application materials including a CV or resume, coursework and publications, and a research statement.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science, Distributed Systems, Systems, Networking, Machine Learning, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Research or applied experience in distributed systems, distributed training or serving infrastructure, ML training platforms, post-training or offline infrastructure, inference and serving optimization, GPU-optimized inference, or model–system co-design.
- Proficiency in Python.
- Familiarity with distributed compute frameworks such as Ray, Kubernetes, or Spark, and with ML training or serving stacks.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated curiosity and self-motivation.
- Publications or strong research alignment with systems-track or applied ML venues are preferred.
- Prior industry or ML infrastructure internship experience is preferred.

- Paid internship lasting a minimum of 12 weeks with a fixed start date in January 2027.
- Location is flexible for this team, with remote candidates considered; the primary location is Netflix’s Los Gatos, California headquarters.
- The program is intended for students returning to school for at least one semester or quarter after the internship.
