Base Salary
$115k - $194k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop secure, tested, and performant TypeScript features across frontend and backend systems.
- Build and publish versioned TypeScript packages from the GitLab Language Server and migrate consumers incrementally.
- Design durable public APIs with clear interfaces, changelogs, deprecation paths, and backward compatibility.
- Build isomorphic core packages with platform-specific adapters and improve SDK client surfaces, including Vue 3 components in Duo Chat on the web.
- Strengthen credential handling using bearer tokens, session cookies, and CSRF protection.
- Optimize browser bundle size, startup cost, and dependency weight, and participate in a Tier 2 on-call rotation.
- Write tests, contribute to code reviews and design discussions, and collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency with TypeScript across frontend and backend systems, including building and maintaining Node.js services.
- Experience with modern build and packaging tools, monorepos, multi-module builds, ECMAScript modules, and dependency management.
- Experience with Vue 3 and the Composition API, or comparable component-based frontend experience with willingness to learn Vue.
- Experience designing APIs used by other people and explaining design tradeoffs.
- Understanding of differences between Node.js and browser execution environments and how to write cross-platform code.
- A security-minded approach to credential handling and performance optimization.
- Clear and concise technical writing, iterative problem solving, collaboration in an agile environment, self-motivation, and organizational judgment.
