Responsibilities
- Engineer and improve the reliability of large-scale distributed services across application, infrastructure, and data layers.
- Design automation, self-healing patterns, resilience strategies, and capacity-management practices to reduce toil and improve recovery.
- Lead high-priority incident response, issue triage, resolution coordination, and blameless post-incident reviews.
- Partner with application development teams to enable sustainable releases, safer changes, and repeatable deployments.
- Build and improve observability, monitoring, logging, tracing, alerting, and operational diagnostics.
- Analyze incidents and usage patterns to identify reliability risks and prevent customer-impacting issues.
- Participate in operational responsibilities, including on-call rotations as needed.
- Use and validate enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development tools for coding, refactoring, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation.
Requirements
- Formal software engineering training or certification plus 3+ years of applied experience.
- Hands-on production software development experience in a general-purpose language such as Python, Java, or shell scripting.
- Experience operating and improving distributed systems in Linux/Unix environments.
- Experience with cloud and virtualization concepts, APIs, and scalable fault-tolerant services.
- Experience with monitoring and logging platforms such as Dynatrace, Splunk, Grafana, or cloud-native telemetry tools.
- Working knowledge of version control and modern software delivery practices, including Git-based workflows and CI/CD.
- Strong critical thinking, incident leadership, and cross-functional communication skills.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools and the ability to evaluate, validate, and refine generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, secure input/output handling, and resiliency and security expectations.
- Preferred: Kubernetes and containerized workload experience, developer-experience or engineering-standard frameworks, performance testing, bottleneck analysis, capacity planning, and production administration of application servers, web servers, and databases.
- Preferred: cloud architecture or data-platform certification, such as AWS Solutions Architect or equivalent, and 5+ years of related industry experience.
