Responsibilities
- Own the technical direction and architecture of the Developer Platform, including cross-cutting decisions that preserve coherence as it scales.
- Design and operate distributed systems for throughput, reliability, consistency, and failure handling under real-world load.
- Turn highly complex and ambiguous platform problems into clear, modular technical designs.
- Shape interfaces and platform capabilities for developers and AI agents.
- Set engineering standards, lead deep technical reviews, and mentor engineers.
- Partner with technical leads across teams to review major architectural decisions and align the wider platform.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience and a proven track record as a Principal- or Staff-level individual contributor.
- Extensive experience designing and operating high-scale, reliable backend and event-driven systems.
- Strong understanding of throughput, consistency, reliability, and failure-handling tradeoffs in distributed architectures.
- Experience designing and shipping platforms or developer-facing systems at scale.
- Deep understanding of identity and access management platforms and developer-facing abstractions.
- Ability to own vaguely specified problems and drive them to clear technical direction without heavy top-down scoping.
- Strong Node.js fundamentals; Go experience is a plus.
- Hands-on familiarity with agentic tooling, MCP, or LLM-facing design.
- Experience collaborating across engineering, product, and architecture and setting technical direction for platforms used by other engineering teams.
- Experience with agent frameworks, AI-facing systems, or LLM developer toolchains is an additional qualification.
