Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and enhance reusable R programs, R packages, BASH programs, analysis datasets, statistical reports, tables, listings, figures, and graphics.
- Develop large-scale programs for data manipulation and researcher data organization and analysis.
- Write, maintain, test, validate, and document R, BASH, and Linux utilities and programs according to CBAR and applicable CDISC requirements.
- Maintain and use metadata repositories including CRAN, pharmaverse, CDISC, MedDRA, and WHODrug metadata.
- Translate SAS macros and programs into validated, documented R functions and packages while preserving accuracy and reproducibility.
- Collaborate with management, programmers, statisticians, epidemiologists, researchers, clinicians, and data managers on programming tools, standards, and research processes.
- Troubleshoot complex programming problems and provide programming support to research staff.
- Educate statisticians and programmers on advanced R data manipulation, package development, programming techniques, and best practices.
- Mentor programming personnel and deliver statistical programming presentations, seminars, and training activities.
- Participate in committees and contribute to programmer recruitment and interviewing.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of post-secondary experience, or a combination of education and relevant work experience.
- Experience in R programming and/or R package development.
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or scientific field such as mathematics or computer science is an additional qualification.
- Experience designing, developing, testing, documenting, and maintaining R functions or packages.
- Experience with tidyverse, pharmaverse, or other CDISC-focused R packages is preferred.
- Experience with SAS, BASH, Linux environments, CDISC standards, data cleaning, statistical-analysis data preparation, or clinical research is preferred.
- Ability to work independently to assess needs, identify solutions, develop specifications, and implement programming solutions.
- Interest in applying emerging artificial intelligence technologies to improve programming processes.
- Knowledge of information technology applications, processes, software, and equipment.
- Strong teamwork, service orientation, communication, deductive reasoning, organization, attention to detail, and self-motivation.
