Responsibilities
- Perform requirements analysis, project estimates, system design, software and database development, testing, and implementation for the WIPP Waste Data System.
- Modernize and maintain WDS, CH-TRAMPAC/CH-TRUCON, RH-TRAMPAC/RH-TRUCON, TRUPACT-III, and Barcode applications.
- Lead migration of the Transportation database application to the WDS platform, including screens and reports for the WDS Transportation Dashboard.
- Architect and develop a VDRUM module within the CTMA framework to calculate FVOC Drum Age Criteria, Concentration Multipliers, and Prediction Factors.
- Provide backup Oracle database administration support, including issue resolution and query development.
- Modify Chemical Compatibility functionality and add new waste packaging types for relevant WIPP groups.
- Collaborate with distributed technical teams and subcontractors through teleconferences, change-control meetings, and technical support meetings.
- Ensure deliverables comply with WIPP quality assurance requirements, the ISL Software Quality Assurance plan, and applicable IEEE frameworks.
- Develop level-of-effort estimates, requirements lists, design documentation, and comprehensive test plans.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- At least five years of professional experience as a Principal Programmer, Lead Developer, or Senior Software Engineer handling complex application and database modernization tasks.
- Expert-level proficiency with Java, HTML, Java Server Pages, JavaScript, CSS, Oracle RDBMS, SQL, PL/SQL, Apache Tomcat, Microsoft Windows Server, Eclipse IDE, Jaspersoft iReport, and Matrix software.
- Ability to independently produce estimates, requirements documentation, design documentation, and comprehensive test plans.
- Ability to work remotely with distributed technical teams and travel to Carlsbad, New Mexico for technical meetings up to twice annually.
- Ability to meet the listed office, computer-entry, communication, and occasional lifting requirements.
