Base Salary
$168k - $227k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define and drive ML technical strategy and architecture for the team and adjacent teams.
- Design and lead implementation of complex, multi-model ML systems at Amazon scale.
- Architect ML platforms and frameworks for rapid experimentation and deployment.
- Lead real-time and batch ML serving infrastructure with high availability and low latency.
- Drive MLOps, model governance, responsible AI, cost optimization, and adoption of new ML technologies.
- Evaluate foundation models, RAG, fine-tuning, and RLHF approaches.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives across science, engineering, product, and business teams.
- Influence technical decisions through design reviews, architecture reviews, design documents, and white papers.
- Mentor L4 and L5 ML engineers and participate in hiring and interviewing.
- Define SLAs, build dashboards, automate incident response, and reduce operational burden.
Requirements
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language.
- 5+ years leading the design or architecture of new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or engineering team leader.
- Experience with technical support or with training and deploying machine learning systems for large-scale optimization.
- Experience building large-scale machine learning and AI solutions at Internet scale.
- Experience creating and managing complex, cross-team project plans.
- At least 4 years of distributed systems experience, or a bachelor's degree in engineering, technology, computer science, machine learning, robotics, operations research, statistics, mathematics, or an equivalent quantitative field.
- Experience with machine learning and LLM fundamentals, including architecture, training and inference lifecycles, and model-execution optimization, or experience delivering complex software systems to customers.
- Preferred: 5+ years of full software development lifecycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Preferred: bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
- Preferred: experience leading product-related engineering discussions on technology decisions and strategy.
- Preferred: experience defining ML platform strategy and building reusable ML infrastructure.
